String Building

​All BAP string building components are built to mount to 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" unistrut channel. This can be purchased in 10 foot sections from home improvement stores. We recommend 12 gauge channel. Here are some purchase options:

• Fastenal - Single strut 12 gauge (SKU 48124/11240738) or double strut 12 gauge (SKU 0133366)

• Home Depot - 12 gauge half slotted strut (SKU 455470)

• Lowes - 12 gauge Half Slot Strut

 

The channel needs to be mounted to a solid surface to avoid flexing when tension is applied. This is very important! Here are possible mounting methods:​

1. A 2 x 6 (or larger) on edge with 5/16" lag bolts every 18"

2. A workbench or tabletop at least 1" thick, with 5/16" lag bolts (or regular bolts with nuts) every 18"

3. A piece of 1" x 2" x .083" or larger steel rectangular tubing, bolted with 5/16" bolts every 18"

Please do not deviate from these mounting requirements. Stretched bowstrings WILL flex the unistrut if these guidelines are not followed.
